The artificial landscape with a partly ruin-like character which resulted from the clay mining will be poetically alienated and newly interpreted. A recreational area with facilities for, among other things, track and field, rugby and horse riding, is emerging on formerly contaminated land. The steep mountain face and the water surfaces lying in front of it, both results of the mining, will be preserved as a landscape monument. The integration of vineyards and olive groves in the boundary areas of the very eventful landscape (with a 180 m difference in altitude) is an important design element, whereby the farmers will be involved in the care and maintenance of the grounds. A mesh of hiking trails through the existing deciduous forests and “miradores” complete the landscape ensemble. Existing rural structures will be integrated into the project and equipped with restaurant facilities.
