The compound is part of the city expansion “In der Wiesen” (“In the Meadow”). It was primarily built for migrants and people from over 25 countries of origin live here. The project features a very sophisticated offer of free space according to spatial positioning and ways of usage, which opens a high degree of individual opportunity for development. Sloping from south to north by a floor, the courtyard is reminiscent of a “paradise garden,” designed as a meadow lined with apricot trees, traversed by a water course that is operated by photovoltaic cells. The tenants’ gardens are located on the sides, clearly offset spatially, on a different height level. Private gardens are arranged on the roof spaces, as are publically usable green spaces grouped around “tea houses.”
